Validator 5.15 was recently released in order to simplify the transition to Palmetto Medicare. For those of you who were not aware, Palmetto has won the contract as a Medicare intermediary for both Northern and Southern CA (as well as many others). Anyone currently submitting to NHIC in CA needs to transition before September 2nd, 2008, or they risk delays in their Medicare reimbursements.
WARNING:
It is important
to note that this is a one way switch. Once you install Validator
5.15 (or above), while you still could receive mail from the old NHIC BBS, all of your claims must be submitted to the new
Palmetto system.
Making the Switch:
Step One: Download and Install the Validator 5.15 patch
Once you have made sure your existing
Validator program is not running, click the link here to run a
patch for Lytec,or here for the AltaPoint version. When prompted,
choose run or open to run the patch. You will get the following three popup boxes:
1. “This will update your existing Validator program to version 5.15…” click
[OK].
2. A box with an unzip button in the upper right, and a listing of two new
files (update.zip and Validator5.exe) in the center of the screen. Click
[Unzip]
3. If all went well you should get an “All files extracted” box.
Click [OK]
IMPORTANT: Do not attempt to run the Validator immediately running the update
patch. The Validator will start up automatically after it completes the update
process. This may take up to 2 minutes.
Step Two: Entering in your new Settings
Once you have run the update patch
and can verify you are on version 5.15, follow these steps to put
in your new settings:
1. Click on Settings\Carrier Setup Options
2. Choose your Medicare carrier from the dropdown menu at the top
of the screen (you may need to repeat these steps if you have BOTH northern and southern CA)
3. Near the top of the “General Tab” change the carrier name and carrier nickname to "Palmetto MCR" and "Palmetto Northern" (or Southern, if this is a southern carrier) respectively. While this step (and what you put) is certainly not critical, it helps you better identify the carrier.
4. Choose the “Modem” tab at the top of the carrier setup options
screen.
5. Write down your existing BBS Password, and phone number. You can use this later if you want to check your mail with the older NHIC system. While Palmetto has informed us that they will transition your mail over, it is better to be safe than sorry.
6. Enter the new "Asynch" BBS password you have been assigned by Palmetto. This should be on the "Jurisdiction 1 Submitter ID Activation Notification".
7. Enter the Phone number as 1-803-788-9860. (Note: If you have a “9,” or
anything else before your existing phone number, you need to have that same
thing before the new number, as it is likely what you need to dial to get
an outside line through your phone system.)
8. Press OK on the Carrier Setup Options screen to save your settings.
