Thank you for taking the time to install this demonstration version of Lytec 2006, and thank you for choosing Stephens & Associates for all of your Lytec needs. This document will help you install the Lytec Demo. You may want to print this document so you can refer to it during the installation.

Since you are running this installation from our instructional web page, you may get a warning from your windows operating system, like this:

Go ahead and select [Run]. The “Welcome” screen like the one below should show.

Select [Next] to continue.....

Select [I Accept] to continue....

Click on [Next] to accept the default Program installation folder and continue...

Click [Browse]:

Change the name of the folder from "LytecData" to "Lytec2006Data"

Click [OK] to continue....

Now I have the folder that I want the data installed in entered (above). I click [Next] to continue...

Since I want to see all of the features, I leave them all checked, and click [Next] to continue...

Lytec is giving you one last chance to change your mind about installing the demo program. Click [Next] to continue. You'll get a progess bar like the following, as Lytec writes the various files to your computer.

 

This step will take a couple of minutes, and lead you to this next installation of the Crystal Reports engine.

Accept the "Typical" Installation:

If everything is correct, click [Next] to continue.

You may be prompted to restart your computer. If so, before you click [Yes] button shown below, make sure you've saved and closed any other applications you be using.

After allowing your computer to reboot, Crystal Reports will automatically continue its installation. This process will take 2-3 minutes while it checks for various things with screens that look like the following.

When you see the [Finish] button, click it to continue on to the Lytec installation. When you Finish the Crystal Reports installation, you should be left with a view of your computer’s desktop, with a new Lytec 2006 icon, which looks like this (It may have a slightly different name, and that’s OK):

Double-click that icon to continue, and you’ll get something that looks like this:

Don’t worry that you don’t know the name of the Server. You can click the button to the right of that field, and select your computer’s name from the drop-down list, like so:

You can either select that name (if it is your computer’s name), or you can type in your computer’s name, as we have done below:

Clicking [Finish] starts the Lytec program and begins checking files:

Leaving you back with the following:

Click [OK] to finish. You may get the following popup message saying the Lytec is updating their system. Just let it run to completion.

Now to easily put some demo data in your system, do the following:
Click [File\Open Practice]

Brings you to:

Click [Add Tutorials] and you get your demo data practice, called “Centertown Offices.”

With the “Lytec Tutorial” Practice Name highlighted, click [Open Practice]…
And you are at the login screen. The User code is “SYSTEM” and the Password is: “system1”.
